F.A.Q
FOR THE CREATIONS
(7
questions)
Here
are the answers at the questions
that you often ask me.
1°
HOW IS CAME THE
IDEA AND DESIRE TO CREATE ARTIST DOLLS ?
I'm
a secretary. There are only four years, I didn't know that
I made those activities. I didn't know I created a site on the
web. That
came very fast and it's really unforeseen. I haven't got particular
qualities or a desire of creation. I made with pleasure, Richelieu
embroidering, patchwork and I crocheted some mats. I learned bobbin
lace at the end of 1998 with a technical book and I began many other
techniques : sculpture, marquetry, embroidery, painting, spun copper,
etc...
2°
WHY
HAVEN'T YOU GOT ONLY ONE OR TWO TECHNIQUES ?
All
techniques are interesting and I couldn't make only one or two of them. The
dilemma would be great : which one should I choose ? I haven't
a preference. In
addition, with all these techniques I never can get tired of my
activities. In fact, I need of every technique that I learned to
create my dolls. I'll
hope on the contrary to add other techniques like paper lace, glass
engraving...
3°
WHERE
DO YOU FIND YOUR SUBJECTS ?
There
are my reading which help me but it isn't a rule. I want to imagine
my own subjects. I began to make historical costumes because it's exciting
but when I saw the creations of foreign doll artists, particularly in
USA, I discovered that they make some great fancy dolls. I'll want to
create some dolls more creative in the future.
4°
HOW DO YOU CREATE
A DOLL ?
When
I chose the subject that I like, I look for informations in order
to know history and symbolics (when there is one).
5°
DO
YOU USE PHOTOS OF WORKS OF ART TO COPY THEM ?
No. I
made it for my first relief picture Saint Michel ; I copied an illumination
from twelfth century. But, at that moment, I didn't know that I would
want to become a doll artist.
6°
DID YOU HELPED
BY OTHER PERSONS IN YOUR CREATIONS ?
No
I realize everything by myself from the idea to its realization. That
would waste my pleasure. Don't think that it be pride because I don't
think that I am gifted in every techniques but it's much more exciting
to make everything by myself, solve the little problems for each new
creation.
7°
HOW
MANY HOURS ARE NECESSARY TO MAKE A DOLL ?
Usually it takes
about three complete months of work. But, sometimes, it takes more
time.
